Empowering women affected by breast and ovarian cancer at SHARE: A Second Helping of Life fundraising event

In alignment with its mission to ensure that every woman with a diagnosis of breast cancer has an opportunity to receive the most comprehensive care possible, Dilon recently sponsored the SHARE annual tasting benefit night, ‘A Second Helping of Life’. SHARE is a national nonprofit organization supporting the education and empowerment of women affected by breast or ovarian cancer, with a special focus on medically underserved communities.

This is Dune’s third year attending and supporting SHARE’s fundraising event by invitation of Dr. Deborah Axelrod from NYU. As a patient-centered physician, Dr. Axelrod ensures that her patients have every opportunity to reduce the possibility of a re-excision by implementing MarginProbe into her practice. Dr. Axelrod has been supporting SHARE for nearly 25 years and is a member of the benefit committee.

A Second Helping of Life fundraising tasting event features New York City’s premier women chefs and allows SHARE to provide free support services and education programs to thousands of women and their families. This was the 15th anniversary of A Second Helping of Life, raising close to half a million dollars since its inception.

Over the years, SHARE has supported over 160,000 women affected by breast or ovarian cancer and has reached over 32,000 people in medically underserved communities. Their Helplines have also handled nearly 6,000 calls from all 50 states, in 19 languages.
